Happy 12/12/12!

Welcome to VitaLife Nutrition’s blog! Today, 12/12/12, marks the birth of my blog, what a memorable day!! The last repetitive day we will ever see…special indeed!

I am fairly new to blogging, but I love to write and keep people informed about what’s new in the nutrition world, so here goes!

I am sure most of us are getting ready for the holidays.. shopping, traveling, entertaining family, putting out lights and decorating etc etc. Life can get very stressful during the month of December to the point where eating and activity patterns take a huge hit. We keep reminding ourselves that the holidays will be over, the new year will set in and we will renew our commitments to healthy eating and exercise. It takes a few minutes of your time to organize your thoughts and come up with a plan. For example, while you brush your teeth in the morning, you can forecast what your day looks like..dropping off your kids at school, getting to a meeting at work by 9am, lunch appointment with a colleague, get the dog to the vet’s office , buy your mom her favorite perfume at the mall and so on..it literally takes five minutes to plan what you can do before you leave the comfort of your home to that task-crazy day ahead of you!

Meal planning is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle. It is especially critical around the holidays when temptation is high and will power is at an all-time low. The days leading to the holidays can entail making healthy choices and getting some physical activity if you take a few minutes of your time to do so. Do your grocery shopping after making a mental note of what you will be preparing at home. You will minimize your chances of deviating from your plan if you have a pre-programmed meal waiting for you. If you know you will be swamped with tasks next week, put on your running shoes and hit the gym more frequently this week or just walk your dog outdoors. You can fit in healthy choices to any day if you choose to do so..if you splurge excessively today, don’t wait until next week or the next year to get back to your original plan..Do it tomorrow! Keep those holiday pounds away and act now! Remember to Plan, plan, plan..
